This fantastic and informative day is for all Scouting leaders, young leaders, trustees and Group Supporteds in NE Cumbria. The aim is to provide advice, tools and resources that will help your Section and Group to grow and develop in the future.
You will have the opportunity to participate in 4 of the following workshops.
Parents Help!
Advice on parental engagement, providing case studies and techniques on how to encourage parents to help out.
More Adults Please.
Information on recruitment techniques plus showing what resources are available from Scout Headquarters for this. Help with how to incorporate flexible volunteering into your Group and the benefits of Scout Active Support.
Growing Our Young People.
Looking at waiting lists and the moving on process. Advice on retention of youth members both within sections and as they move onto the next section. The value of the young leaders scheme and developing youth led Scouting.
Planning For The Future.
Showing how to create Group and Section development plans. Looking at succession planning and how to keep the 'Movement' in Scouting.
Shout About Scouting.
Looking at the Scout Brand and working with local media- why do it and how to get the most for your Group from it. Also, looking at internal communication and the different ways you could communicate with your parents and members to keep them well informed.
Supporting My Group.
Looking at the purpose, roles and responsibilites of the Group Executive Committee. Breaking myths and highlighting support and resources that are available.
All the workshops will be delivered by local Scouters who volunteer and carry out roles similar to yourselves. A CD will be provided with all the resources that you will see in each workshop.
Refreshments and a buffet lunch will be provided.
A free bus will be available from Carlisle Sands Centre (CA1 1JQ) at 9am to the venue (returning approx 6pm). Please notify Hannah if you would like a space on the bus.
