Funding for Development, training & support

Dear Colleagues
The Workers' Educational Association (WEA) has been successful in its bid to coordinate European Social Fund (ESF) Community Grants Fund across the whole of the North West. The contract starts in September 2011 and it will run to December 2013. Grants of up to £12,000 can be awarded
to groups and organisations who provide help with basic skills, work experience, training advice and guidance, job search assistance, confidence-building, personal development and support to remove barriers to training and employment. Grants can also be awarded to support organisational capacity of groups who fulfil the ESF remit. The WEA anticipates that there will be a great deal of interest in the funding and understand that applying for grants can be a huge undertaking for some less experienced groups. Therefore, the WEA will be running support workshops and events - this will spread the word about the fund and help applicants to submit bids. Details of the first round of grant funding will be published soon. For more information including guidelines about the kind of community projects the ESF supports visit www.nw.wea.org.uk or contact Amanda Smith on 0161 277 5411.
