Cumbria County Scout MANHUNT!

Cumbria County Scouts is holding a Manhunt competition
Saturday 25th September
This County Event is a Hiking and Map Reading Competition; Teams of Scouts hike aproximately 7 miles using their own navigation skills without being caught by an army of catchers.

The Route:
Depart at 10:00am from Meathop Roundabout, GR 434 815 (Actual location to be confirmed in final instructions), Heading in a northerly direction for a distance of 7 miles, to finish at the Training Ground, Great Tower Campsite, GR 401 916 (again confirmed in final Instructions), arriving as close to 3:30pm as possible.

The Rules:
· The preferred team shall consist of 5 Scouts, although the absolute minimum is 4 and the Maximum is 7 (To comply with Scout Hiking rules.)
· Each team must have at least one older Scout (age 13 / 14) in its make up.
· Team members shall be properly dressed for a day on the fells (Boots, Waterproofs, clothing, etc.)
· Teams shall be properly equiped with Maps (1:25000) Compass, First aid, Whistle, Survival bag, Mobile Phone.
· Teams must be able to use their map & compass.
· The team must stay together at all times.
· Teams must stay within the prescribed boundaries (A roads)
Catchers:
The Catchers shall be Scout Leaders, Explorers, Young Leaders and CRB Cleared Adults.

If you are interested in entering a team of scouts or catchers or just as a helping leader, please click the title link for the application form and return before 12th September. The event will cost £2.50 per Person (Hikers, Catchers & Leaders), which will entitle them to a souvenir metal participants badge.
Catchers who will hike to catch the teams must also be in a group of 4 to 7 and may be mixed ages from 14 to adult, however leaders in their cars / mini buses will be able to catch individually or in pairs provided they use their vehicle as a check point, keeping within ½ mile of its parkin place.

There may be a limit to the number of teams allowed to enter so be quick and get your application in!
